Divan is one of the four recently finished rooms at the
Museum Hotel. Unlike the other cave rooms in the hotel,
which were previously sculpted structures, Divan was carved
from scratch and suited to the personal vision of the Museum
Hotel owner.
During the Ottoman period, only sultans had the privilege of
sitting on a divan. This room, named after the sultan’s
chair, is furnished with a splendid one. From it, you can
both contemplate a grand view of the Cappadocian valleys,
and the fish swimming in a small pool lined with fossils of
sea creatures from the Taurus Mountains.
Traditionally, Sultans were surrounded by the finest
materials. Divan was constructed with exceptional and rare
stonework, as well as fine craftsmanship and careful
planning. The deluxe room contains special pieces from the
Indigo collection: an antique mortar and pestle, rare
carpets, exquisite textiles, and a 19th century
şerbetlik from which şerbet, a rosewater syrup drink, was
offered to guests. The luxurious, modern bathroom with
Jacuzzi that overlooks the valleys, and a king-sized bed
with a view of Erciyes Mountain in the distance are fit for
a Sultan
